Sources
Every factual claim links to a source: legislation.gov.uk and GOV.UK for the law, the RHS for growing guidance, the National Allotment Society, the Met Office, HSE, and manufacturers for product specs. Each page lists its sources and says when they were last checked. Anything we haven't confirmed is held back until it is.
The four nations
Allotment law isn't the same across the UK. England and Wales share most of it, Scotland has its own, and Northern Ireland differs again. We say which applies.
What we never do
- Claim to have grown or tried anything ourselves, or present a product round-up as if we'd used the products.
- Invent statistics, waiting-list figures, rents, prices, quotes or studies.
- Call any pesticide, slug pellet or weedkiller "safe". The product label is the legal instruction.
- Tell you a council must give you a plot within a set time unless the law for your nation says so.
- Use personal bylines or made-up experts. Everything is by the Tilthwick team.
Products
Where we mention products, specs are the manufacturer's own figures, dated. We haven't tested them. We never use star ratings or review schema.
